Usually, when you hear that a celebrity has gone for surgery, plastic surgery is the first thing that pops into your mind. Well, Kim Nam-joon’s surgery case is a rather different one. Instead of the cosmetic surgery that quite a number of celebrities go for or are reported to have undergone in the past, Kim Nam-joon had an open heart surgery, a medical procedure.
It is reported that as a kid, Kim Nam-joon had heart problems. His heart troubles were quite severe and by the time he was 15, doctors decided that he needed an open heart surgery. The heart surgery is basically a procedure that is done by cutting open the chest to expose the heart. A series of surgeries are then done on the heart’s muscles, valves and arteries.
At the time the Kim Nam-joon went for the procedure, doctors stated that he had a 30% of pulling through the surgery alive. Kim has however managed to defy all odds and has risen to become one of the most formidable rappers in South Korea.
Popularly known as Rap Monster, Kim Nam-joon is a celebrated South Korean rapper, songwriter and record producer. Besides being the leader of, he is also the main rapper of BTS, a popular South Korean boy group. The group is managed under Big Hit Entertainment. 2015 saw Rap Monster record and release his first solo mix tape RM. He has since done a number of impressive projects and has worked with big names like Warren G, Gaeko, KrizzKaliko, Wale, Primary as well as MFBTY.
Rap Monster is most notable for his large contribution in songwriting and production in the discography of BTS. Reportedly, Rap Monster has more than 60 songs that the Korea Music Copyright Association has accredited to his name.
Kim Nam-joon was born in 1994, September 12th in Ilsan, South Korea. He was born in a family of two and has a younger sister. Prior to making his debut with BTS, Kim worked as an underground rapper using the stage name Runch Randa. While working as an underground rapper, he released quite a number of tracks and at one time did a collaboration with Zico a fellow underground rapper.
Besides his musical prowess, Kim Nam-joon is also known for his high levels of intellect. He has several academic achievements that include scoring an incredible 850 on TOEIC while in junior high. He made it into part of the 1.3% of the nation language, math, foreign language and social studies preparatory university entrance exams.
He speaks fluent English and Japanese besides his native Korean language. He is said to have perfected his English by watching Friends, an American sitcom severally. Kim Nam-joon has an IQ of 148 which is pretty high.
Kim was enlisted as the first member of BTS back in 2010 during a talent audition dubbed the Big Hit. As a member of BTS, Rap Monster made his debut in June of 2013 on M! Countdown which aired on M-Net. He did the track No More Dream.
